Bending green thickly,

Spreading swell,

Pointed hopewardly.

Crisp and sharp–

Open-eyed,

Gleaming yellow,

Youthfully beaming.

Drawn on the wind,

Succulent–

Dry to tongues,

Just a flicker,

Shifting in the heat–

Tasting only sand.
